We are now looking to recruit a Fund Controller to Areim. An independent Nordic fund manager and property owner, founded and headquartered in Stockholm with offices in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo, and London.
We own and develop real estate and companies across the Nordic region within the light industrial, residential, office, retail, logistics, and data centre sectors.

The role 

We are looking for a curious and analytical Fund Controller for our team at Areim. In this role, you have the opportunity to work within a professional and supporting team and the position offers you a chance to, together with a senior colleague, be responsible for one of our real estate funds. The role includes a broad scope within real estate fund operations, including reporting, analyzing financial performance, fund administration, and liquidity planning. The accounting is handled by an external accounting firm. You will work closely with the finance team as well as other functions within Areim and there is great possibility for a fast and exciting learning curve if you are proactive with high collaboration skills. The position is based in the city center of Stockholm where you report to Head of Fund Control/Finance manager. 

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Financial and performance reporting to investors, banks, FSA, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and analyzing financial performance and project outcomes in collaboration with the asset management team.
  • Cash flow planning and analysis of the funds and investments.
  • Support the fund manager and the asset management team on financial matters, including VAT and tax issues.
  • Involvement in business and budget planning for the fund and its investments.
  • Close contacts with external accounting firms, auditors, and custodians.
  • Coordinate and overview the process for annual reports, income tax return and property tax declarations.
  • Active contribution in different internal projects to enhance financial processes and corporate initiatives.

Qualification and suitable background:

  • Team player with a curious mindset.
  • University degree (MSc) preferably in accounting, finance or business.
  • At least 2-3 years of full-time work experience from audit or accounting, preferably with sector experience from real estate or fund operations.
  • Knowledge of reporting in accordance with IFRS, and additional expertise in group accounting is advantageous.
  • As a person you are professional, take responsibility for your deliveries and are proactive.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, organized and can prioritize work effectively, sticking to deadlines. 
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft 365, specifically in Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication abilities in both English and Swedish.
